INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION Intercultural communication is the topic I most relate to because, as an immigrant, sharing my culture and traditions with people from all different backgrounds and cultures touches my heart and my thoughts deeply. Living in a city like Miami, I meet people from other countries and experience many different cultures, especially Hispanic culture. As I get to interact with people from various backgrounds, I have had cultural shocks, even within the Hispanic culture. As a Hispanic myself, it still surprises me how Hispanic countries culturally differ from one another, even though we speak the same language and share similarities.  I enjoyed how group number 2 explained and portrayed intercultural communication by illustrating how cultures differ even within the same country and state. The pictures and videos provided by the group members helped me understand how race, gender, ethnicity, and religion impact cultures worldwide and their consequences. I...

Diovani Hernandez May 16, 2024 Communication and its Importance      C ommunication as well as connection play an essential part in our world and are what allow people and cultures to relate with one another, whether through speaking or participating in a group. The presentations all discussed and illustrated how communication serves a crucial part both in how we live and the growth of leaders as individuals. Meeting people and even simply traveling to different countries helps people realize how important communication and culture play in everyday life.     A  lot of things were written and explained well, and it shows signs of what strong communicators we have in this class and to be able to share their input and potential is truly breath-taking. Along with the summaries of what constitutes groups, presentations were displayed to provide greater detail of what groups are and how we all communicate with one another. It provides an appropriate overvie...

Reflection on Group ppts. Before I start giving my opinions on the other projects, first, I need to give some critique on my personal presentation slides and performance.   I have always been confident in my presentation and PowerPoint-making skills. My previous communications professor from high school placed a strong emphasis on presentations, which helped me develop the skills needed for this project. I believe this background equipped me well for creating effective presentations. In general, my slides were not bad. They contained all the necessary information from the textbook since the chapters were relatively small. The layout was decent, and the pictures chosen were coherent with the chapters being presented. The transitions and animations were smooth and appropriate, adding a professional touch to the overall presentation.   However, my self-assessment of my performance is quite harsh. While I had the information clearly in my mind, when it came to speaking, I s...

Last week, we had to present on chapter 9 , which is “Communicating in Groups.” When I first found out about this presentation, I was shocked. How could we have a presentation this early in the course? But mostly, I was worried about who would be part of my group. I hoped we could work together without any issues coming up. My worries worsened when the groups were separated; no one was commun icating. It was ironic we were assigned this chapter since we were doing everything but communicating for a while. I tried to bring up the presentation and I had very short answers, which was understandable since a presentation being assigned on the first day . We all agreed that we should first read the chapter before assigning anything and that on Wednesday we would talk about it. On Wednesday, some students already chose their parts, and we assigned the rest based on who and what parts were missing. A google slides was created and we each worked on it separately....
