Communication

                                                    Communication and its Nature

Communication comes as part of our society through the way we talk and how we appear both  verbally and physically  to others. Communication is a  difficult thing  to learn for some  of  us  and  especially people  with  Autism or any  other mental disorders. As time goes on and people study autism and social cues more, we as a  species  learn to  connect to  each other even if its hard for people to do. With communicating  there's multiple ways to  communicate and talk to one another explained by Barbara:  Communication  Processes, Message Production ,Emojis, Emoticons, Social Media Platforms, GIFs, and Interference. Theres  different and countless of ways  of how people connect to each other and talk to one another. For example someone who might be deaf or is unable to speak, can learn to do sign language in person or text through direct messages on phones through social media platforms or through phone numbers.

Mental Issues and how they affect Communication

In some situations with some people, communicating with others can be difficult depending on what mental issue they deal with. Some people deal with things such as Asperger's, autism, dyslexia and other mental  problems. Now some people struggle mentally but we're focused on mental issues that affect how  some people communicate to others. Now can some of these individuals understand faster than others?  Absolutely but some people get the worst of it and struggle but deserve as much merit as others for pursuing and being able to beat impossible odds. Autism and Dyslexia for example, are not  easy things to put up with and a lot of people struggle, so we must deep dive into how much harder these individuals have over  other people that don't have mental issues and how they are as people.

                                                                            Autism

So why is Autism something that was researched and mentioned with communication? Well its   because individuals with autism or other  mental disabilities struggle with communicating with other people from challenges they face since birth (depending on when an individual is diagnosed) Such challenges that are involved with these   individuals can be: Body Language, Delayed Understanding Patterns, Sensory Overloads etc. There's  also other methods  for these individuals to learn such as: Persuasive Speaking, Eye Contact, Sign Language and  many more. We as people learn to be more  creative each and everyday to understand one another and how to talk to others no matter what form of background they come from or what they struggle with health wise. Everyone and Everything should be  treated as equal and be able to act as kind.

                                                                         ADHD

ADHD is another one  of the 3 mental issues i=I'll be covering in this blog and ADHD is another form of mental health issue where people constantly  overthink and overstress things they shouldn't stress over  or struggle  with. Individuals with ADHD might have occurrences where  they get  to shy  or overthink  of what they should say  to someone or how they should  approach someone. Individuals specifically struggle  the  most since  they get the  worst of everything having mixes of  communicating, being able  to understand  things slower  since they overthink and stress even more  than others, and have trouble understanding a lot of things that gets communicated. Now there isn't much help for people with ADHD but  the best  we  can do is  try to help them feel appreciated and to learn to not be  as stressful and to understand that they feel appreciated even if  communication   is hard for them  as well

                                                                 Dyslexia

Another mental issue a lot of people deal with, is Dyslexia. Dyslexia's not as bad as speaking but it can affect how people interpret words on text messages or read things. Their brains will either add extra words to sentences that dont need them, or words will get replaced, or sentences and words move around and it makes it look like messages or notes are scrambled. Now this is not as bad as autism  is when it comes to communicating with people  but issues do cause where people will have a harder time understanding when certain words are being said or certain actions are made. Just like autism,  there are different categories of how bad people have dyslexia or not, and even then Dyslexia as a word feels complicated to say sometimes especially for people who deal with it.

                                                                       Social Anxiety

A difficult feat some people deal with is Social Anxiety Disorder.  SAD affects people being  afraid to not communicate and to feel alone and or afraid to be dealing  with things on their  own and not having the proper help to deal with it. This affects how these individuals  come to communicate with people if they are left alone for too long since its difficult for them to feel both unappreciated and appreciated. Like the other mental health problems,  this is another one that's really hard for people to  deal with.

All in all, people with mental issues indeed struggle when it comes to communicating or socializing with others, but they can still keep pursuing dreams and being able to talk to others if they can try hard enough or receive the help they need as these people are deserving of being able to be part of our society and  continue to shape it as other famous people  with  mental disabilities have. Throughout  these classes and time we spent with each other, we have started to learn how we as groups communicate differently and how we present our  ideas of communication  different than each other. With each presentation had different topics but all fell into the same category of communicating. We started learning how we communicate, help each other, and understanding how we are as people in a classroom of public speaking. Even if some of us have a harder time understanding others or we take longer to process information, we should all be  patient with one another and understand how to help each other  even if  we  aren't a part of everyone's day-to-day life. As long as  people  communicate and treat each other  well, everyone  can learn  to be  better  at communicating and to help understand  ourselves as individuals for as well.
